Weapons in Starfield

There are a wide variety of weapons that can be found throughout the galaxy. Ranged weapons come in different sizes, and fire different types of projectiles.

Each size of weapon has its own related skill: Pistol Certification, Rifle Certification, and Heavy Weapons Certification.

Similarly, each type of projectile also has its own related skill: Ballistics, Lasers, and Particle Beams.

Weapons found throughout the galaxy scales as your character progresses, increasingly appearing at a higher tier. Beyond basic weapons, the tiers are Calibrated, Refined, Advanced, and Superior. Each tier increases the damage output by some amount unique to that weapon. Note that there is no way to craft an updated tier onto an existing weapon.

Weapons can be modified at a Weapon Workbench, through Weaponry research. Ammunition can be produced at an Industrial Workbench, though some of the input materials (primers and diodes) can only be acquired from shops in relatively small numbers.

I'm still gathering information on all the available weapons, so there may be some gaps in the tables.

List of Rare Weapon Effects

Weapons found throughout the galaxy can sometimes have as many as three rare effects. Such weapons are shown as Rare with one effect, Epic with two effects, or Legendary with three effects. These effects are inherent to the weapon. There is no way to craft such effects onto regular weapons.

The following table lists all known weapon effects, organized into logical categories.

Concussive Crowd Control Small chance to knock down targets.
Demoralizing Crowd Control Small chance to demoralize a target.
Frenzy Crowd Control Small chance to frenzy a target.
Staggering Crowd Control Small chance to stagger enemies.
Tesla Crowd Control Rounds will sometimes emit electricity where they land that damages and slows nearby targets.
Anti-Personnel Damage +10% damage against humans.
Bashing Damage Deals double damage when gun bashing.
Berserker Damage Does more damage the less armor one has.
Cornered Damage Damage increases as health decreases.
Crippling Damage Deals +30% damage on the next attack after hitting a target's limbs.
Disassembler Damage +20% damage against robots.
Exterminator Damage +30% damage against aliens.
Furious Damage Each consecutive hit deals more damage.
Hitman Damage +15% damage while aiming.
Instigating Damage Deals double damage to targets with full health.
Lacerate Damage Randomly applies a bleed effect to the target.
Rapid Damage +25% increase in attack speed.
Shattering Damage Break through even the strongest armor.
Space-Adept Damage +30% damage while in space, and -15% damage while on a planet.
Corrosive Environmental Randomly deals corrosive damage and reduces the targets' armor over 6 seconds.
Poison Environmental Randomly deals poison damage and slows the target.
Radioactive Environmental Randomly deals radioactive damage and demoralizes the target.
Med Theft Loot Chance that humans drop extra Med Packs on death.
Extended Magazine Mag Size Doubles the base magazine capacity.
Explosive Rounds Randomly switches to explosive rounds.
Handloading Rounds Volatile rounds that are designed to pack a bigger punch, but aren't as stable and can fail on occasion.
One Inch Punch Rounds Rounds fire in a shotgun-like spread.
